USSA offers Basic and Advanced training with experienced and qualified instructors and courses to enhance your skill and experience level.  Whether your interest is in handgun, rifle, shotgun, or combatives we have training courses are designed for each subject.

We have indoor classrooms for comfortable audio/visual instruction.  All of our shooting ranges are outdoors.

USSA offers personal training, with our incredible instructors, geared to your interests and level of experience. Please call us at 918-948-7856, or book seats online, if you are interested in setting up some personal training. You can set up training sessions for one, two, or three people at an hourly rate by the number of people.

You can also bring your own group of six or more people and we can create a course based on your area of interest.  We have instructors for women’s pistol classes, night fire/low light courses, and other specialized courses and curriculum available upon request and will work with you to design a course in any relevant subject of your interest.

Basic Training

For people new to firearms or who want the refresh their skills, or, want to get certificate for the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act Concealed Carry license.

Introduction to Pistol Shooting

Bryan teaches Intro to Pistol Shooting every Sunday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The purpose of this course is to help those who are new to handgun shooting get started with a solid foundation of Safety and Operating Fundamentals.

 

  • SAFETY-In your home, on your person or at the range, the four basic SAFETY rules will help serve to prevent accidental mishaps or tragedy.
  • Operation and Function-This section will give you the confidence to SAFELY handle a pistol and be comfortable knowing it is loaded. We ALWAYS treat guns as if they are loaded-Safety.
  • Range Courtesy and Protocol-This section of the course will get you shooting. You will learn range commands and procedures for the staging area and the firing line. You learn what to do to SAFELY (have you noticed a theme?) handle a problem or a malfunction. Stance, grip and marksmanship are all part of this phase of training.

On completion of this course, you will be prepared for to enter any pistol 1 course where your gun handling skills and marksmanship can be developed more quickly and easily due to your experience with SAFETY, terminology and procedure.

You will need:

  1. The pistol you intend to shoot.
  2. Eye protection-your glasses or sunglasses are fine.
  3. Ear protection-ear plugs or muffs.
  4. Box of 50 rounds of ammunition.
  5. All these items are available in the USSA Pro Shop.

This 1 1/2 hour course class is offered to USSA members for $30.00 and non-USSA members for $40.00. With a SDA Concealed Carry class add this class for $30.00 for non USSA members.

Basic Defensive Pistol Shooting

Cost: $50.00 per person.

This course is designed to progressively increase your pistol shooting competence. Starting with the fundamentals of marksmanship and firearm safety, to various drills designed to get you moving. David is a certified NRA instructor, CLEET certified security officer, experienced martial arts instructor and a former Marine.

You will learn:

  • Marksmanship fundamentals.
  • Shooting from a concealed carry holster.
  • Shooting and moving.
  • Emergency and tactical reloads.
  • Shooting from cover.
  • Basic weapon retention concepts.
  • Shooting from kneeling and urban prone positions.

You will need:

  1. The pistol you intend to shoot.
  2. Eye protection – your glasses or sunglasses are fine.
  3. Ear protection – ear plugs or muffs.
  4. 150 rounds of ammunition.
  5. Two magazine pouches/holsters.
  6. All these items are available in the USSA Pro Shop.

SDA Concealed Carry Class

SDA (Self Defense Act) Conceal/Carry Class:

Instructor Matt “Gunny” Sheets teaches a CCW class the First Saturday of every month.

Gunny goes over safety and handling of your weapon along with the State required material to gain a better understanding and get your certificate for your SDA license for $60.00. It is an all day class from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special Offer: combine Conceal/Carry with our Introduction to Pistol Shooting for $30.00 which totals to $90.00. Get the Fundamentals down correctly and gain the self confidence from the instruction gained with this training.

​You will need:

  1. State issued identification card.
  2. The firearm with which you want to qualify (remember that, a semi-automatic qualifies you to carry all handguns). USSA can rent semi-auto handguns for $15.00 plus one box of ammunition.
  3. 50 rounds of ammunition.
  4. Ball cap or hat and eye and ear protection.
  5. Cost: $60.00. Add Intro to Pistol Shooting for $30.00!

Advanced Concealed Carry

Instructor: Matt “Gunny” Sheets teaches Advanced Concealed Carry.

Now that you have or are getting your carry license, come get some experience! This Advanced Concealed Carry Course will take a beginner or experienced shooter to the next level in carrying and using a concealed pistol, as well as defensive skills.

The course will:

  • Start with the basics of shooting and make them smooth.
  • Improve marksmanship and shooting tighter groups.
  • Drawing from concealed carry positions (sweeping and lifting techniques).
  • Immediate action skills for malfunctions.

Students will learn:

  • Several unique firing positions-including: one handed, holding an object, and weak hand shooting.
  • Home defense firearms considerations and techniques.
  • Shooting from a barricade or covered positions.
  • Shoot/Don’t shoot training.
  • And more…

Student’s equipment:

  1. Semi-automatic handgun.
  2. 350-500 rounds of ammo.
  3. 3 magazines.
  4. Magazine holster (for 2 magazines).
  5. Shirt, vest and light weight jacket (practicing sweep concealed draw).
  6. T-shirt (long one)-practicing concealed draw.
  7. Pant or shorts with rear/cargo pockets for ammo.
  8. Notepad and pen.
  9. Eye, ear and head protection (hat or ball cap and sunglasses or Rx glasses work).

​Time: 8:30-5:00 p.m., during Spring or Fall. Lunch ( 1 hour): Bring a lunch or go to Owasso (10 minutes away). USSA has a lunch room with tables, chairs and A/C and refrigerator available, and fountain drinks for $1.00 w/free refills.

Handgun Fighting Fundamentals

This course is part of the S7 Fighting Fundamentals Series. Course 201 teaches detailed technique in grip, stance, sight picture, trigger pull, combat presentations, emergency reloads, strategic reloads, administrative reloads, target transitioning, precision shooting trigger technique, and rapid fire trigger technique. You will need a handgun, 250 rounds of ammunition, ear protection, eye protection, a holster, 2 or more magazines or speed loaders, and a notebook. Cost is $200 for the full 8 hour course or $100 for the first 4 hours only.

Close Quarter Combat (CQC) Rifle

This course addresses the use of the rifle to fight between close contact distance and out to 25 yards. You will train in improvised shooting techniques as well as close quarter striking using the firearm. Content includes detailed technique in grip, stance, sight picture, trigger pull, emergency reloads, strategic reloads, administrative reloads, target transitioning, precision shooting trigger technique, and rapid fire trigger technique, intro into use of cover and room clearing. You will need a rifle, at least one extra magazine, 300 rounds of ammo, ear protection, eye protection, and a notebook. Cost is $200 for the 8 hour course or $100 for the first 4 hours.

Course 311 teaches detailed technique in grip, stance, sight picture, trigger pull, combat presentations, emergency reloads, strategic reloads, administrative reloads, target transitioning, precision shooting trigger technique, and rapid fire trigger technique. You will need a shotgun,100 rounds of birdshot, 10 buckshot, 10 slugs, ear protection, eye protection, and a notebook. Cost is $200 for the full 8 hour course or $100 for the first 4 hours.
